The unemployment rate here is among the lowest in the country. Central Texans place a high value of education. The area not only has one of the highest numbers of college graduates in the country, it is also the home of two seminaries, six colleges and the University of Texas, one of the largest and most highly ranked universities in the country. More than 100,000 students attend college in the Central Texas area. Recognized for their academic excellence by both state and national organizations, the area's elementary and high schools are among some of the best in the state. Central Texas school systems work closely with city and county development groups to meet growing needs.

"Sports and Recreation"

Leisure activities just may be the highlight of Central Texas. With more than three hundred days of sunshine, it's no wonder area residents are so active. Fitness ranks high on Central Texans' list. In fact, Walking magazine named Austin the "most fit city" in the country. Round Rock -"Good living with a proud heritage"

Round Rock offers the unique combination of a small town community adjacent to all of the variety and opportunities of a large metropolitan city. The children still swim and fish in Brushy Creek near the round rock, and until recently there was a daily domino game downtown at the Mobil Station.

The round rock which gives the town its name was used as a landmark for the low water crossing of Brushy Creek. Many local residents had their picture taken while sitting on the rock and it was a popular place to watch the Georgetown train return home in reverse, since there was nowhere for it to turn around.

A little over twenty years ago Round Rock had a population of less than 10,000 residents. Today, Round Rock is home to over 45,000 people and is the economic engine of Williamson County, the fastest growing county in Texas and the second fastest growing county in the nation. One of the things that makes Round Rock so unique is that as we have grown from a small community to a medium sized city, retaining the small town atmosphere and charm that attracted many of us here in the first place.

The highly acclaimed Round Rock Independent School District has a complete, well-rounded educational program. The school district's already high test scores have continued to outpace Texas on national standard test scores. Currently the average home price in Round Rock is approximately $15,000 less than the national average. The median home price is $108,600.Our mild climate is characteristic of this portion of Central Texas. The countryside is a mixture of gently rolling hills covered in oak trees on the west and green farmland to the east. Water and air quality remains high.
